Spam Filter
Today, the “Fuji Sankei Business i” newspaper in Japan, published an article about my research of Information Security at The University of Tokyo. The topic of the article is “Time Based Spam Filter” (in Japanese).
These proposed spam filter works using the time information of the email to classify it as spam or not-spam. The actual accuracy of the filter is around 90%. One of the pros of this filter is that is full-independent of the language of the email and is one of the most efficient spam filters. These give us a great tool for implementing in mobile devices or as a auxiliary method to fight spam.
This research was submitted to the WISA2007 (10th International Workshop on Information Security Applications) ICICS2007 (The 9th International Conference on
Information and Communications Security) conference that will be held in Korea China at the end of August December. The proceedings of the conference will be published in the Springer LNCS (Lecture Notes on Computer Science).
Here you can download a copy of the article published by the newspaper:

The full article of the research will be available for download after the conference at the Springer homepage.
